Earth Day & Gardening in Sonoma County

Earth Day & Gardening in Sonoma County

Enjoy your EARTH DAY this Friday, April 22, 2016! Check out Santa Rosa’s sixth annual Earth Day Festival Downtown taking place Saturday, April 23 from noon to 4:00 pm at the Courthouse Square. This FREE, fun and family-friendly festival will offer great food, local and earth-friendly products, crafts and activities for kids, and lots of entertainment on an outdoor stage. This is a fun way to learn more about solutions to address drought, climate change, and other environmental concerns.

GARDENING the eco-way… In the spirit of Earth Day, we want to share some great resources for your gardening efforts this spring and summer season. Our favorites this year are drought-resistant varieties, in an effort to continue conserving precious water. Our #1 go-to for a top gardening authority is Sonoma County Master Gardeners. They have a fabulous website, AND they are hosting a “Native Plants for Sonoma County” seminar on April 30 at the Petaluma Regional Library.

The “Rockin’ Homesteads Tour” on April 30 offers FREE guided tours from 1:00-4:00 pm showcasing water-wise landscapes across the county: Cotati, Petaluma and Windsor. Sign up in the city of your choice.

There are several more gardening and planting events, tours, classes & club sales this month which you can check on on www.sonomacountygazette.com
